Today, Sunday, August 9, 2009, Sen. Dick Durbin(D-Ill.) said on CNN's "State of the Union" that while he supported a government-run option for insurance, he was "open" to alternatives. "Open to alternatives", why Sen. Durbin....are you looking for bipartisanship to like the so-called "Blue Dogs" or "Conservative Democrats"? Are you paid and brought by the Healthcare Industry to?The thing is, we need a bill passed with a strong Public Option, otherwise it won't be Healthcare Reform, it'll be some crap that don't fix the overall problem in the Healthcare sector of our economy; prices will continue to rise, the heathcare industry will still continue to make billion of dollars off the back of average Americans, and us the American people will be the ones suffering now & in the long run. I've said it before and I will say it again; the Democrats don't need the Republicans to pass a strong heathcare bill with the Public Option, the Democrats "owns" the White House and the Congress, they have the power of reconciliation, meaning they could pass a healthcare bill with only 51 votes in the Senate. They have the power to give the American people the Change we vote for. But I can assure you, if Healthcare Reform isn't pass this year, or even as early Spring of 2010, the Democrats will suffer the fury of the Progressives and the Moderates come the primary in 2010, and President Obama will probably suffer the same fate in 2012 if the run for reelection. It's time for the Democrats to "grow a pair" and grow a spine and push Healthcare through, or in 2010, some, if not the majority of them will lose their jobs, and if that fate brings a Republican control Senate, House, or Both; Nothing will get accomplish for the next three years of the Obama administration, because the Republicans will fight him tooth and nail on every issue as they are doing presently....and the "minority" Democrats will be once again, spineless to fight back.
Now don't get me wrong, and I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves, the fight on Healthcare is still going, and we still have a long fight ahead of us...but a bill without a strong Public Option to compete with the Healthcare Industry is NOT Healthcare Reform....It's a load of bs.
