Waking up this morning to hear the news of Senator Kennedy passing was unbelievable, he was a guy I respected & admire. My hope was that he would be around to see history unfold & be able to share in the historic moment when we finally get Healthcare Reform in this nation.
My sincere sympathy goes out to the family & friends of Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy. He was an icon, a great senator & a pioneer for this country, he leave behind a great legacy & record in the Senate. He knew what the job of a U.S. Senator was…he knew he was there to work for the American people and not the big corporations. He worked his entire career to get many legislative bills passed through the Senate, and sometimes on a bipartisan level. Today we’ve lost an icon & a patriot, but there’s one thing Senator Kennedy spent 36 years fighting for, and that is/was Universal Healthcare Coverage for all Americans… We have healthcare reform proposals making their way through the Congress right now and at some point this year, a final bill will make it to the floor for a vote; I’m sure by the time it does, Senator Kennedy successor will be in place, who I’m sure will be a Democrat, and the Senate will hold its majority… I say that to say this, Senator Edward Kennedy fought until he couldn’t fight any more for the American people & most importantly, Healthcare Reform; & the Democrats will have the power of the Congress & the White House to reform our healthcare system….In remembrance & dedication to Senator Kennedy, Healthcare Reform must be passed. Congress has ONE shot to do something that no other Congress has been able to do, & President Obama has ONE shot to do what no other President has been able to do…..Stand up to the Healthcare Industry/Lobbyist & stand up for the American people and the legacy of Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy and pass Healthcare Reform w/ a Public Option.
RIP Senator Kennedy!!
